Imagine yourself embarking on a magical island of the Tyrrhenian Sea, exploring ancient ruins of a roman villa and then rejoicing in the power that emanates from the sunset and smelling the air of the sea while gazing at the horizon.

Ventotene, halfway between Ponza and Ischia, is the smallest inhabited island of the Pontine islands. It is a tranquil spot, surrounded by crystal clear waters and offers visitors a holiday where they can be at one with nature, far away from the chaos of a city.

Ventotene is blessed with extraordinary morphology, wonderful smells of the Tyrrhenian, intense colors and exceptional hospitality making it a must-visit for anyone looking for an island that breaks with the stereotypical mold of beach holidays. The island, the remains of an ancient volcano, is elongated, with a length of 3 kilometers and a maximum width of about 800 meters.

Ventotene was one of the favorite destinations of the Romans for their holidays and became famous because it was used as a place of exile for many members of the imperial family. The most famous of these exiles was certainly the only daughter of Emperor Augustus, Giulia, who took refuge in the extravagant complex called Villa Giulia, which you can still visit today. For various reasons, Agrippina Major, Livilla, Octavia and Flavia Domitilla were all confined on Ventotene.

The island is also significant because it is here that was signed the Ventotene Manifesto that, in 1941, in the midst of World War II, called for the union of European countries and that will be the ideal reference to which many will look, in later years, for the process of continental integration.
