Come walk with us on an ancient Roman path!  

In the Middle Ages, the "Via Francigena" was the major pilgrimage route running from France to Rome, and Apulia. The Via Francigena was not a single main road like a typical stone-block Roman road, but it used to involve several possible routes that developed over the centuries as trade and pilgrimage changed.  

Today, some pilgrims travel on foot, on horseback, or riding a bike on the Via Francigena. We will walk 7km from Albano Lake to Nemi Lake, going through the “Parco Regionale dei Castelli Romani” (the natural park of the Roman Castles area), and we'll explore the gorgeous village of Nemi. Then, we will walk down to the lake where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will visit the Ancient Roman Naval Museum by the lake and have some free time at the lakeshore. Around 6 pm, we will take a private bus to go back to Rome. 

Hiking Level: easy/moderate - A hike that is generally suitable for anyone who enjoys walking. Mostly level or with a slight incline.
