Shakespeare sets the scene in Verona, Italy. Juliet and Romeo meet and fall instantly in love at a masked ball of the Capulets, and they profess their love when Romeo, unwilling to leave, climbs the wall into the orchard garden of her family’s house and finds her alone at her window. Because their well-to-do families are enemies, the two are married secretly.
This is just the beginning of perhaps the most famous love story of the world. Beyond the surface of an already know ending, lies a powerful message of hope: when true love exists, time looses its effect and Eternity can be found in a short life time.
Romeo and Juliet, play by William Shakespeare, was written about 1594–96 and first published in an unauthorized quarto in 1597. The characters of Romeo and Juliet have been depicted in literature, music, dance, and theatre. The appeal of the young hero and heroine is such that they have become, in the popular imagination, the representative type of star-crossed lovers.

The Silvano Toti Globe Theatre was constructed in 2003 as an Italian replica of the Elizabethan Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed. This production is the only show of the season to be performed in the original English rather than Italian.
