Assisi is a beautiful medieval city built on a hill in the Italian region of Umbria. As Assisi is the birthplace of Saint Francis, patron saint of Italy, the city is closely associated with the work of the Franciscan Order. Assisi is one of the most important locations of the Catholic faith and is the site of countless pilgrimages each year.

The most important attraction in the city is the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, which began construction in 1228 AD shortly after his death. During our trip, we will have a guided tour of the church and marvel at the frescoes painted by some of the world’s most famous artists such as Giotto, Cimabue, and Lorenzetti, which has made the basilica a point of reference for art and architecture during the Italian Renaissance.

In addition to seeing these powerful masterpieces, we will also have the opportunity to see a part of the church not usually open to the public. Our visit will include the convent cloister behind the nave of the Basilica and a special visit at the library archive where we will see unique medieval documents and manuscripts.
