Celebrate the 400 anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death by enjoying The Tempest. It is thought to be one of his final plays and is considered either a comedy or a tragicomedy.  It explores themes such as justice, power, magic, and the nature of theater itself. The story centers on Prospero, the Duke of Milan, as he tries to return to power after being shipwrecked on a mystical island with his daughter, Miranda. Romance blooms between Miranda and Ferdinand, a victim of a second shipwreck caused by a tempest, the result of Prospero’s magic. Will Miranda, Ferdinand, and Prospero make it back to Milan with the help of the sprites and spirits of the island?

The Silvano Toti Globe Theatre was constructed in 2003 as an Italian replica of the Elizabethan Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed. This production is the only show of the season to be performed in the original English rather than Italian.
