Experience the excitement! Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful Italian forests? The Natural Reserve of Zompo lo Schioppo surrounded by the Apennines is situated in the heart of Abruzzo. The beauty of this reserve lies in the 80 meter high waterfall that spring from impermeable rock. The Athletics Department has organized a trip in the Abruzzo National Park, where wolves and humans have shared the same territory throughout history. Along with the discovery of flourishing nature, we will learn about this mighty predator through stories of the past as well as through the latest scientific discoveries.
PROGRAM:
DAY 1 – Saturday, June 13th
07:30 am Departure from John Cabot University (Tiber Campus)
10:00 am Arrival at the regional nature reserve and check-in in the mountain lodge "lo Schioppo"
10:30 am – 4:30 pm Guided hike along the trails to the S. Maria del Cauto hermitage.Packed Lunch is included.
4:30 pm Return to the hermitage and free time
6:30 pm Preparation of the dinner
7.30 pm Dinner
9:30 pm Short night hike under the stars
DAY 2 – Sunday, June 14th
08:00 am Breakfast
08:30 am Hike on the waterfalls trail and optional bath
12:00 pm Barbecue
01:30 pm Check out
02:00 pm Visit of the abandoned village of “Morino Vecchio”
02:45 pm Departure to Rome
05:15 pm Arrival in Rome
