You need a break from Rome? No need to go far way...Fall is the right time to explore the enchanting area that surrounds the Eternal City. Castelli Romani is the romantically named scattering of olive-producing towns set in the volcanic landscape of the Colli Albani, the Alban Hills, 20 km southeast of Rome . Today, a couple of the craters are filled with water, making up the lakes of Albano and Nemi. It may look all peaceful and serene, but the earth here is still seismically active.
