The ancient outdoor arena of the Baths of Caracalla (Terme di Caracalla) in Rome provides the perfect setting for the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s performance of the world famous AIDA, an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni. Set in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, it was commissioned by Cairo's Khedivial Opera House and had its première there on 24 December 1871, in a performance conducted by Giovanni Bottesini. 

Set in Ancient Egypt, AIDA is a timeless story of love and betrayal against the backdrop of war. The sotry of love and betrayal against the backdrop of war. The story is a roller coaster of emotions told through Verdi’s powerful music.
