The region of Umbria is known for its picturesque panoramas, delicious food, and religious heritage. John Cabot University is taking you to the countryside near Todi, and to the towns of Assisi and Perugia.

In Todi we will visit a charming Olive Grove in the heart of the Umbrian countryside. Here you will follow the olive oil making process from beginning to end. Harvest the olives from the grove yourself, learn how to press them into oil at the mill. You will even be able to take home a bottle of your hand made olive oil to enjoy with your friends and family.

Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a crucial location for religious pilgrimage as the birthplace of both Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Clare. We will have the opportunity to examine both religion and art through the medieval frescoes painted in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.

Perugia, is the capital of the region of Umbria and dates back to 600BC as one of the 12 cities of the Etruscan League. The city was also an important medieval town, greatly influenced by the papal authorities. Perugia was influential during the Renaissance through Pietro Vannucci, better known as Perugino, who in turn taught one of the world’s most well-known artists, Rafael Sanzio.  We will be touring the Perugina Chocolate Factory before going to the yearly Eurochocolate Festival.
