COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A continuation of FR 101.
 This course is aiming at developing and reinforcing the language skills acquired in Introductory French I.
Following the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFL), the students, who should have reached a level A1 in FR 101, will aim at reaching a level A2 at the end of the semester.
Note: This course carries 4 semester hours of credit during the Fall and Spring terms.
SUMMARY OF COURSE CONTENT:

3 testsEach test will be based on the Grammar and the Vocabulary studied during the weeks prior to the test. Each test will last around 30 minutes and will be composed of exercises on Grammar and Vocabulary.25%
Midterm examThe Midterm, exam will be based on Grammar and Vocabulary. The exam will last 1 hour and a half and verify the understanding and knowledge of the program followed in class from the beginning of the semester.25%
Final ExamThe Final exam will be composed of 2 an ORAL exam and a WRITTEN exam. Both parts will be following the guidelines of the DELF exam, the official French exam that validates the levels according to the European Framework for Languages.The oral exam will be divided into a listening comprehension and an individual examination.The written exam will be divided into Grammar, Reading comprehension and writing30%
Class Participation and HomeworkThe class participation grade will be based on attendance and contribution to small group and general class discussions. Students are expected to prepare homework for each class as well as to come prepared.Attendance is taken at the beginning of class.20%

-ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Students are supposed to come prepared to class and participate in all activities.

Active participation is crucial, since the learning process requires considerable practice.

Regular attendance is an essential component of class participation.

Make sure your travel plans do not interfere with the class schedule.

Students are allowed three (four if it’s an eight-credit course) unjustified absences.

The final grade will be lowered by 3 points for each additional absence.

With more than 7 absences, thestudent will get an F for class participation and may fail the course.

ACADEMIC HONESTY
As stated in the university catalog, any student who commits an act of academic dishonesty will receive a failing grade on the work in which the dishonesty occurred. In addition, acts of academic dishonesty, irrespective of the weight of the assignment, may result in the student receiving a failing grade in the course. Instances of academic dishonesty will be reported to the Dean of Academic Affairs. A student who is reported twice for academic dishonesty is subject to summary dismissal from the University. In such a case, the Academic Council will then make a recommendation to the President, who will make the final decision.
