NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE OFFERED FOR ANY REASON. If you miss class on a day when a pop-quiz is administered, that will be your dropped score. Pop quizzes may be administered at the beginning of the class period, therefore it is your responsibility to arrive in class ON TIME. Discussions reflect the student’s own arguments and are not simply a repetition of standard lecture andreference material. The work does not suffer from any major errors or omissions and provides evidence of reading beyond the required assignments. CThis is an acceptable level of performance and provides answers that are clear but limited, reflecting the information offered in the lectures and reference readings. Also, if you miss a class, you might miss a pop-quiz. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to be updated on course material from your classmates and, if you don’t understand a topic, to ask the instructor. It is also your responsibility to routinely check MyJCU for important announcements; in particular, remember to check MyJCU the morning before each class for possible urgent announcements.
Please behave in class in a respectful way towards your classmates and your instructor. In particular, you must absolutely silence your cellphone and avoid using it. Please do not come in late or leave early, as it disrupts the whole class.
Laptops in class are considered a source of distraction. Therefore, students are strongly discouraged to use their laptops, even if just for taking notes. If you have a condition that requires the use of a laptop, please contact me privately to discuss the specific situation as soon as possible.
Please refer to the University Catalog for the standards of academic honesty.

ACADEMIC HONESTY
As stated in the university catalog, any student who commits an act of academic
dishonesty will receive a failing grade on the work in which the dishonesty occurred.
In addition, acts of academic dishonesty, irrespective of the weight of the assignment,
may result in the student receiving a failing grade in the course. Instances of
academic dishonesty will be reported to the Dean of Academic Affairs. A student
who is reported twice for academic dishonesty is subject to summary dismissal from
the University. In such a case, the Academic Council will then make a recommendation
to the President, who will make the final decision.
