The Tuscia area occupies the northern part of Lazio and is the old name for the present-day province of Viterbo. This magical and bucolic area will be our destination for the day.

From afar, Civita di Bagnoregio appears as a hermitage suspended between heaven and earth. Nicknamed "the town that is dying," due to the constant erosion of the tuff rocks where it is placed, the village rises in the province of Viterbo and is originally founded by Etruscans about 2.500 years ago. Today only 12 inhabitants live in the citadel, but Civita is still a beautiful example of an eternal past.

The medieval town of Viterbo is just north of Rome in the Lazio region. It is known for temporarily housing the papal seat in the thirteenth century, but the origins of the city are Etruscan. Its well preserved architecture, including the churches, city walls and gates, fountains, and neighborhoods are a charming example of medieval life.

The thermal baths, or Terme dei Papi, date back to the Etruscan era of the city and were also used by medieval Popes, now they are enjoyed by everyone for their therapeutic benefits. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, swim cap, and towel to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits yourself!
