Participants will meet at the Testaccio Market for a day of tasting and writing. We will go over the basic forms of food writing and journalism, note-taking, interview practices, and revisions. Participants will meet a number of producers and vendors, have the opportunity to talk with them, ask them questions, and write short profiles. For this session participants will read some Hannah Goldfield, Anthony Bourdain, Ruth Reichl, Samin Nostrat, and practice Meditation/Exercise to awaken the five senses and taste the food in a mindful way, with a particular attention on the difference between nourishing oneself and stuffing with food.
