Participants will go to Ostia Antica to spend the day exploring the ancient city. In this session you will be asked to reach back to the distant and near past and picture what life may have been like for the Ancient Romans. We will take clues from the landscape, the architecture, the wildlife and write about worlds seen and unseen. We will practice some eco-somatic writing, almost magical writing practices keyed in to the whole body as a writing being. We will prepare for this session by reading CA Conrad, Saidiya Hartman, and Anne Carson.
