Orvieto is situated on the top of a cliff overlooking the rolling hills of the Umbrian countryside. It has been a strategic city throughout history because of its advantageous viewpoint from the top of the cliff and its accessibility to the Tiber and Paglia rivers. Orvieto is known for architecture, art, food and wine, and locally crafted artisanal products.
