TRIP ITINERARY (subject to change):
Sapri is a town in the geographical region of Cilento (in Campania). The town is a port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, close to the border of Basilicata. Join us in this adventure, discovering the beauty of the Cilento Coast, and Sapri town and port.
After our arrival in Sapri, we will move to Scario by shuttle service, and we will take a boat tour along the coast; we will discover all the grottos and caves on the way (below and over the water). We will visit “Baia degli Infreschi,” awarded “best Italian bay” in 2013 and 2014.
On Saturday we will hike Mount Ceraso, and the old mule-track “Apprezzami l’asino”, an ancient path linking the Cilento area with Basilicata region. We will then hike down towards the Grotto of the Column; a short and steep path will reward us with beautiful views, and the outstanding visit to a hidden grotto on the sea. We will then take some time to relax at the “Bay of Love,” a gorgeous natural pool, very private and quiet. Hiking boots are mandatory for the entire length of the hikes!
On Sunday, we will reach the “Cilento, Vallo di Diano, and Alburni National Park,” where are many natural oasis and reserves. We will visit the WWF Oasis of Bussento Grottos, an incredibly beautiful natural reserve in the small town of Morigerati. On our visit there, we will pass by a canyon completely covered by vegetation, walking on an ancient mule-trail that unfolds from the historic center through springs, waterfalls, and an ancient water mill and culminates into the gorgeous Bussento Grotto. The Morigerati Oasis is well known due to the importance of its Karst Phenomena. We will then have lunch in Morigerati, and visit the town.
